How to Throw Together a Last Minute Outing for the Family

Perhaps you recently got a phone call from a family relative to let you know they are on their way to visit, or maybe you just need to get your kids out of the house for your own sanity. In either case, by following these tips, you are guaranteed to plan a last minute family outing. From taking the clan to a pizza buffet or going to play lazer tag, there is truly something for everyone.

1. Putt-Putt Party

Playing through all 18 zany holes in a putt-putt golf course can be a blast for the whole family. No matter your age or even physical ability, playing miniature golf is a fun game that is accessible to all. Most courses offer a concession stand as well so you can enjoy some soft drinks or ice cream with your game.

2. Visit the Lake

One inexpensive way to entertain the family for the day is to head out to the local watering hole for a swim. Pack some sunscreen, a beach towel, and some floating toys and let the kids wear themselves out swimming and playing in the water. Be prepared though, because they are bound to be hungry and tired afterwards, as swimming has a way of wearing you out.

3. Pizza Buffet

If your main concern is how you will feed the entire group, few things can beat all you can eat pizza buffets. Typically this type of establishment will offer arcade games and other activities to keep both kids and adults active and entertained. The best thing about this option is that you are likely to keep the entire family fed and busy for hours, without having to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

Fall Family Fun Ideas: Go Karts and Indoor Games

Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean fun has to end as well. In fact, in a lot of ways it’s easier to have fun in fall without all the heat and sun to worry about. There are plenty of things to do in the colder months that are just as much fun as anything in summer, and with your kids in school, these activities can even be used as motivators! Here are some ideas for those colder or rainy days:

Indoor activities – There are plenty of places that offer indoor fun year-round. Blazer tag is a game that can only be enjoyed indoors, and is an extremely fun activity for kids that you can also participate in. Arcades are another idea that you have to be indoors to enjoy, and it’s not just for kids. Young adults and even grown-ups have fun playing the arcade games and winning prizes. If your child is very active, try indoor rock climbing walls! It’s safe, fun, and challenging both physically and intellectually.

Go Karts – While this activity requires a lot of space and therefore has to be outdoors, it is often more enjoyable in fall than in summer. Instead of driving around and sweating in the burning sun, instead of have a cool breeze blowing past you as you race around with your child in safe, fast-paced fun. There are also some places that have Jr. tracks where the kids can drive the karts themselves!

Moonwalks and ball pits – For your tiny tots, there are moonwalk playscapes and ball pits that are all indoors and safe, where you little one can run and roll around to their hearts content, meeting only padded surfaces. All bouncy houses etc. have a height limit as well, so there’s no worry of big kids endangering the little kids. The only downside is telling your kiddo when it’s time to go!
